Monetrails is built to give you control over your financial data. We do not connect directly to your bank accounts. You choose what to upload and when.
We collect only the data needed to provide the product:
In web mode, your account profile and the financial data you upload/process in the web app are stored on our cloud servers so you can access your data from the website.
In desktop mode, your financial database and uploaded files are stored locally on your device (inside the Monetrails application data folder). This is designed so your core financial records stay on your machine.
Some non-financial services still use cloud endpoints in desktop mode, such as account login and subscription/account status checks.
We use LLMs to extract structure and insights from statements and other uploaded financial content. This can include transaction text, dates, amounts, account labels, and related document context required for extraction.
In web mode, this processing runs through our cloud backend. In desktop mode, LLM processing may run either locally or through our cloud relay, depending on your desktop configuration.
We use your data to provide core features: statement extraction, categorization, reporting, and sync/migration tools.
We apply standard technical and organizational security practices. You can request deletion of your account data and manage storage mode in app settings where available.
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers required to operate the product (for example: infrastructure, payment, and AI processing providers) and only for service delivery.
